Job Overview
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Structure: Two-storey detached house with attached garage
Problem: Nocturnal attic noises consistent with raccoon activity
Service: Raccoon removal
Visits: 2
Summary
Our team completed a two-visit raccoon removal service at a detached residential property in Mississauga. The issue was traced to a roofline entry point at the soffit intersection. Humane exclusion was installed during the first visit, followed by confirmation and removal of the device once activity had ceased.
Background / Property Context
The property is a two-storey detached home with a built-in garage. The roof design included multiple transitions where the main roof meets soffit and fascia components, creating potential wildlife entry points if gaps develop over time.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported hearing movement and noise in the attic during nighttime hours. The sounds were consistent with raccoon activity, prompting a request for inspection and removal.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial inspection, our technician identified an active entry point at the intersection of the roof and soffit. The shingles in this area showed displacement, and the underlying wood was exposed, providing access into the attic space. No additional entry points were observed during the inspection.

Cause Analysis
Raccoons commonly exploit roof–soffit intersections where materials overlap and gaps can form due to weathering or structural movement. Elevated rooflines provide shelter and easy access, especially on multi-storey homes. Once an opening is established, repeated use can enlarge the gap over time.
Treatment / Removal
On the first visit, Richard installed a one-way door over the identified entry point. This device allowed the raccoon to exit the attic space without permitting re-entry. The installation was completed in a manner that supported humane, non-lethal removal.

Exclusion & Repairs
Protective screening was secured along the vulnerable soffit and roofline areas surrounding the entry point. Fasteners and washers were used to ensure the mesh followed the contours of the structure, closing off gaps while maintaining proper ventilation.
Outcome & Confirmation
At the follow-up visit, the homeowner reported no further activity in the attic. The one-way door was removed, and the exclusion work was inspected to confirm integrity. No new signs of wildlife entry were observed at that time.

Technician Notes
The primary entry point was located at a roof-to-soffit junction above the garage roofline. Screening was installed flush to the structure, and all exclusion materials were confirmed secure during the final visit. Richard verified that the attic remained inactive before closing out the service.
