Mouse Activity in Attic – Mississauga

Job Overview

Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Structure: Two-storey detached house with an attached garage
Problem: Nocturnal sounds coming from the attic space
Service: Mouse treatment
Visits: Two visits

Summary

We responded to reports of nighttime noises in the attic of a detached home in Mississauga. An interior attic inspection confirmed mouse activity. A licensed exterminator completed a mouse treatment using commercial-grade methods, followed by a second visit to confirm resolution.

Background / Property Context

The property is a two-storey detached house with multiple rooflines and standard attic access. The roof design includes several penetrations and junction points that can become vulnerable to small rodent entry if not sealed.

Customer Concern

The homeowner reported ongoing sounds in the attic during nighttime hours and was concerned about possible wildlife or rodent activity above the living space.

Inspection & Findings

During the initial visit, our technician inspected both the attic interior and the exterior roofline. Evidence observed in the attic was consistent with mouse activity. Exterior inspection identified several accessible openings along the roof area, including vents and soffit-adjacent gaps that could allow mice to enter the attic.

Cause Analysis

Mice are capable climbers and can access rooflines using nearby structures or exterior features. Small gaps around roof vents, plumbing penetrations, and soffit transitions can provide entry into attic spaces. Once inside, attic insulation offers warmth and shelter, supporting ongoing activity.

Treatment / Removal

A licensed exterminator performed a mouse treatment in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. Tamper-resistant bait stations containing commercial-grade rodenticide were placed in areas of high attic activity. The treatment was designed to reduce the active population within the attic space.

Exclusion & Repairs

Exterior inspection identified multiple potential entry points on the roof and soffit areas. Exclusion options were discussed with the homeowner; however, they chose not to proceed with exclusion work at that time.

Outcome & Confirmation

At the follow-up visit, the homeowner reported no further sounds or signs of activity in the attic. No new issues were noted, and the customer confirmed they were satisfied with the outcome of the service.

Technician Notes

  • Visit 1: Attic inspection confirmed mouse activity. Bait stations were installed in high-activity areas. Exterior inspection noted accessible roof vents and soffit gaps that could serve as entry points.
  • Visit 2: No further activity reported by the homeowner. No additional treatment required. Technician Dylan confirmed resolution based on customer feedback.
